Re: Painful dry skin on every inch of my body
Wrenn made an interesting post on how rubbing fresh urine on her dry skin provided dramatic results. I don't have the URL handy, but you can find it on the Urine Therapy forum. If you don't think you can try this, see if you can find a commercial product containing urea to apply to your skin topically. You might also want to try taking Vitamin C and MSM, this helps rebuild collagen and other connective tissue and plump up your skin from the inside. I have noticed an improvement in my skin since I started taking 6-10,000 mgs.. of vitamin C everyday. Avoid hot showers and baths, strong soaps, in fact don't use soap at all if you can get away with it. Do some dry skin brushing daily using a very gentle natural bristle brush and lightly sweeping your skin. Rebounding can help improve circulation in your legs and bring more nutrients to the skin. You also might want to try some horse chestnut capsules. They are primarily for vein health, but I have noticed a major improvement in the skin of my legs since taking this supplement, and trying to rebound.(I have trouble standing and balancing so my sessions are very short right now) I would suggest you stop using Vaseline and other heavy mineral or petroleum oils and see if allowing your skin to breathe will help. Olive oil can be applied topically. Another suggestion that Wrenn made a couple years ago was making a dry rub with olive oil and cornmeal and rubbing on the legs and arms. It does make a nice exfoliator, but do not use where your skin is cracked and broken.
Edit-I almost forgot to give you my dry skin rub recipe. Take a cup of oatmeal and whirl in a blender until fairly fine. Mix with water or moisterizing liquid soap and rub all over your wet body. Oatmeal is soothing, healing and helps keep moisture near the skin. You can also soak in a warm tub of oatmeal water.
