In extreme cases it may be good to try an anti-depressant for short term.
However I strongly believe that chemical balance can be acheived without pharmaceuticals. I believe this can be done by eating for brain health and some natural supplements, if depleted.
There can be a lot of scary side effects from any anti-depressant medication and should never be prescribed like candy. Unfortunately today's md's prescribe them too easily hoping for a band-aid like effect.
