You can use baking soda (i.e. sodium bicarbonate) to prepare your own sodium ascorbate. To whatever amount of vit. C you use, add half that amount of baking soda, in a cup. Then add a cup of water. CO2 bubbles will form, you can wait a minute or so for them to disappear and then drink the solution. It will not taste acidic at all, it has a pleasant slightly salty taste. If it still tastes acidic, you need to use more baking soda.
You have to make this fresh every time, it loses its potency if left more than an hour.
