i read a few articles regarding taking high very high levels of organic vitimin C - say up to 10 or 15g - as a wonder cure for asma, clogged heart arturies, the comomon cold, and a plethora of body cconditions that would fill a book. basically the immune system is given a turbo boost to the exstent that nothng is able to overpower it (thats to my simplistic and rather layman thinking; correct me if you will). also related is: a lack of vitimin c is regarded as the scurvy condition; the vast majority of animals produce high levels of C in stressfull situation to combat devoping problems, humans being of the few who don't resulting disease ect... you can read about at

what the consensus view is on this at large? are people in agreeing, or is this typical far fetched hype out of control. are high levels of C are safe, or does it acidify the body.
i am new to this infomation and searching to a balanced perpective.

MoreThis is a reply to # 345,688aah, reading through the posts, it seems that its a question of the bad guys, ascorbic acid, verse the good guys, the full monty vitimin C complex. its seems that we are all shuveling the wrong stuff down our throats. so instead of curing the cancer and the other 'wrongs', we make wrongs worse. basically you make a mountain out of a molehill; and the natural vitimin C in my kitchen cuboard is wrong stuff.
am i on the right lines. what your poison? lol

MoreThis is a reply to # 345,689Vitamin c is vital if using ascorbic acid simply supply enough alkaline minerals to balance the equation! Megadosing is a powerful healler and the minimal amount to heal is found in the titeration levels! The amount just below a loose stool! The acid scare is just that and if it is a concern simly use sodium ascorbate! I know personaly of its success in treating prostate cancer in a few months! There are a few bashers of vitamin C but those that do rely on a few wrong assumptions or are promoted by those who lose profit by its success! IV vitamin C is approved by the NIH an establishment organization who has decided it is the right thing to endorse! The controversy here is a mostly from a personal and untested biases and those who dont really understand how the body works!

This is a reply to # 345,691You can use baking soda (i.e. sodium bicarbonate) to prepare your own sodium ascorbate. To whatever amount of vit. C you use, add half that amount of baking soda, in a cup. Then add a cup of water. CO2 bubbles will form, you can wait a minute or so for them to disappear and then drink the solution. It will not taste acidic at all, it has a pleasant slightly salty taste. If it still tastes acidic, you need to use more baking soda.

This is a reply to # 345,690in another post recently i read that red peppers, or lime juice, or ...(heck can't remeber) corrects the imbalances that may result from taking vitimin c thats not the in the full C complex.
are those foods doing the same job as sodium ascorbate nuetralising overacidity?

This is a reply to # 345,688I knew there were a lot of positive effects of consuming vitamin-C in some form, mostly through orange juice, but I don't know about overdosing on vitamin-C. I've read in medical journals how if you consume too much of one supplement your body doesn't know what to do with the excess, and just throws it out (causes the runs, or vomit). I wouldn't recommend overdosing on vitamin-C, but instead look for a supplement that can provide with the right amount that you need and deliver it in a fast efficient manner. Personally I take Altrient-C and love it! It really works with my crossfit workouts, and has really improved my health!
