Re: This seems to make sense
"As a last thought, there are some on these forums who oppose open thought and should not be exposed to intelligence as "It can cause serious reactions for a number of reasons." :^)"
Well, I for one appreciate an open forum. When a person reacts with anger it is usually born out of fear. I want to be informed without having to worry about a "War of the Worlds" scenario. I can remember when I was a small child passing by the Television and hearing a respected Minister shout out.."The World will soon come to an end!!" I walked around for weeks in a panic. I didn't eat, I didn't sleep. Thank God my parents finally figured out what was wrong. It still took them a long while to convince me that what I heard was taken out of context. What the heck does a child know about context?
So.... now as a parent I have taken an open line of communication stance with my children. Still I wonder if that's enough. A child is very impressionable. My favorite saying for my children and those who would spend their time concentrating on what could happen, is this. "If you spend your entire life worrying about death and disaster, when are you going to find time to live?"
As my wonderful grandmother use to say, "Girl your chase’n rabbits again." LOL I have strayed from the subject of this forum and for that I apologize .
