Re: I saw for the 2nd time Kevin's infomercial
They, themselves do not focus on that, their stated focus is “to combat health-related frauds, myths, fads, and fallacies.“ All organizations have to choose and operate within specific guidelines and objectives to be effectiv. If you want to check on your doctor, you can do so easily. They provide a link on the website. The link to HealthGrades at
http://www.healthgrades.com/.
The have their issues, but is does not take from the fact that they are a good source of information against health frad, Besides nobody else is doing the work, where else would one look for this info?. There are a lot of scams out there, if every piece of information is not perfect, there is a lot of good info, by a variety of authors in multiple fields.
The user fees that FDA charges are no different than any other fee that the government charges. I have to pay to get tested for my licence but I was no guarantee that I would pass and be allowed to drive. The user fees have also been in operation only since 1992. These are not bribes, they are user fees just like every other fee the government charges. Specifically, (1) fees on applications (NDA/BLA); (2) annual fees on establishments; and (3) renewal fees on products . The user fees were also implemented to provide a user standards and speed up NDA and BLA, this was done to address the common complaint that the FDA was taking too long to review the applications and that people were waiting for these drugs to be approved. Like all gov't agencies they need a lot of work, they are slow to change, reluctant to recognized areas of improvement and sometimes their sheer size makes it difficult to change direction. I would be the first to say they could improve in several areas. One of them is openness, which they have started.
The FDA budget can be inspected here:

Recently, all the results from a MDS lab doing analytical work was put under review due to lab irregularities, and the lab was shut down as a result.
We both know, that all govt' agencies screw up all the time, the litigations against the Drug companies is ongoing and expensive. The lawyer fees along cost millions and the cost of jury awards is vastly higher. Beside, I made it clear I was talking about the cost to the Drug companies and not to the FDA. So please stop, misrepresenting my words.
What about the platinum drugs that put so many cancer sufferers in the grave? They are approved but significantly ineffective except in a few rare cases and horrendously toxic. There are far better therapies that are intentionally suppressed in the US but are freely used in almost every other country in the world, resulting in lower death rates from cancer in those countries.
>- Lipitor ... so all we know is that they are better than nothing.
ParaZapper , you are lying If you plan to quote me, please do ti Properly. Lipitor was from one sentence – The I wrote another sentence, and then I wrote another sentence and then I wrote another sentence. Finally I wrote the last part of what you attribute to me.
Alternative therapies and herbals do not have to go through a NDA, a process that takes 5-10 years from development and possibly more than 100 million dollars from the beginning. I could make disparaging remarks about the Alternative Medical Mafia (AMM) and their protectors, but I prefer to stick to facts.
Your story on the zapper is apocryphal. Though, I agree it would be a waste of money since it does not work. Even and alternative medicine group like this one agrees.

At $7000 dollars I could easily afford to fund it myself (if I skip buying a new bike), it does not need the support of several billion dollar companies. Any working person could fund it, we're not talking millions here. Just a few thousand dollars.
I also won't address you accusations of financial gain or supposed perks. You have no proof of that and neither do I.
