Info on natural pet health care

My dog will be 16 in Oct and I just had blood work up which shows elivated Bun(at 40 highest s/b 27 mg/dl)and Creatinine (2.0 high s/b 1.8 mg/dl)levels. The holistic vet wanted to put her on Kidney food, but after explaining that I cook for her, she said cut back on the protein to no more than 50% and increase vegs, add rice or mashed potatoes for bulk/starch if necessary.

Her glucose was low at 50 (range 60-125 mb/dl)and her Anion Gap is high at 25(range 12-24 mEq/L), but checking web sites actually seems to be in range per their range levels. The other thing that is way high is the CK at 520 (range 10-200 U/L). Everything else is within normal range.

The high CK I believe is because she may have had a mild seizure or mild stroke. Thus the reason for the visit. She had an episode where she was tilting her head in a strange way while prancing around waiting for her dinner and afterward seemed fine. Later, however, her back legs were not supporting her and she was walking like a drunk! She is much better now, but it is still a concern, especially since she also has arthritis.

I noticed a mention of Pet Medicine Chest products. Has anyone here been successful with them? If so, could you please give your input?

I used them years ago for skin problems and ear infection on my dog, but did not find it helpful, so actually stoped using the basic products, expect the parasite on occassion. I changed my dog's food to home prepared and that made a world of difference in her skin problems. She still experiences flair ups in the summer, but not anywhere near before!

Also doing research on Wobenzym, does anyone have experience with that for pets?

The three things I'm interested in addressing:

Kidney health
Arthritis
Possible prevention of future seizures.

Any knowledge would be very much appreciated, sorry this is so long.

BTW I haven't had her vacinated since 2002.
