Re: Info on natural pet health care + EDIT
I can only suggest to go to
http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com the site is for people and animals. Type your different questions in the search box.
Our dog is 12. A few years ago he ended up with pancreatitis, so all the liver tests were at a dangerous level. The vet gave us water so we had to give him intravenously the water in his neck (we did not want him to be at the hospital).
I might not explain it right because I am forgetful when it comes to medical terms.
So far he is fine.
Several years ago we changed to Inova senior food, after a discussion here on the pet forum.
Since 6 years ago he got
Arthritis because of twice having surgery on his left hind leg. He has trouble with his right leg too.
At that time I promised him that he never had to go back to the hospital, it is such a trauma for animals and they don't understand we are trying to help them.
He gets every day for the
Arthritis Breeder's Choice Active Care health joint treats. On the bag it says how much to give them. I order it from Petco since they did not carry it in the store.
In the beginning I had him on different supplements, I learned from a Yahoo group.
About 4 weeks ago I gave him some 35% foodgrade hydrogen peroxide but it might have been too much, he got sluggish. So I stopped.
Then I read about putting a pinch of Himalayan or Celtic
Seasalt in his water and he has gotten livelier. It might be that I found that on Shirleys site.
The Inova site also gives information what is in different dogfood. May be you can cut back on the protein and add some other food or do the veggies.
When you go through the old messages you will find discussions about different dogfood (it might be some time ago, but it comes up off and on).
EDIT: My husband thinks it might have been called a saline drip. The vet taught him how to do it and it ended up being simple. The dog did not react to it at all, we were more nervous than he.
