Depending on the lukemia, the chemo would likely be gleevac. I don't know much about this one, but it does seem to control the luk for many years. However, it does not cure, and every user of gleevac will eventually secumb to the disease. I also can't comment on the side-effects, since this is a chemo that I am unfamiliar with.
If your friend is unwilling to abandon traditional medicine (many with cancer can not make the leap, don't judge them too harshly), then work hard to get them to at least adapt a nutritional protocol. Chemo + aggressive nutriion is better than chemo alone. That is a fact.
I recomend that you get a copy of "Antioxidants Against Cancer", and "The Cancer Battle Plan".
Lastly, I have posted a link to an article about Feverfew. Recent research (from the establishment of all places) has shown that feverfew is effective in destroying the malignant stem cells that are at the root of luk. I take feverfew as part of my protocol. It is cheap, and readily available.
