Re: Shelley if you have time (long)
Lipase is an enzyme, and hopefully includes more enzymes than just lipase. This gives the body a chance to break down fats so they can get utilized, burned, taken out of the bloodstream, rather than deposited and stored.
When we have low thyroid, we tend to store rather than burn. Serum Cholesterol always always raises when we have low thyroid, because there is less metabolism - or burning- going on.
The body wants to protect you from starvation. It is geared towards making sure you have enough fat, because fat is sooooo important to organ and tissue health and energy. When you don't eat enough fat, the body assumes it is winter, starvation is nigh, and so it shuts down metabolism. That's why starvation diets never work. Soon as you start eating normally again, the body goes woo hoo! let's prepare for next winter! and stores fat. This process is what fat blockers try to interrupt. Fat burners are much better, they simply ensure that the body CAN burn fat as needed, which is much more balanced.
