Re: ALKALINE/ Acid food chart
yes grains are on the acid side. that is what i was saying was backwords on your post, not the 80 20 thing itself:
"The best alkaline diet includes eating a diet of 80% whole grains which includes beans, brown rice, brown barley, nuts, seeds, whole-cereals. The other 20% of the diet should include fresh fruit, vegetables and as little red meat possible (if any at all)."
really it is the other way around - it should be 80 percent fruits and veggies (alkaline) and 20 percent of foods should be from the acidic side of chart. sorry to confuse you with the 75% and 25%. it's just easier for me to do in my head as far as portions go when i think in terms of quarters or 3 parts alkaline foods to 1 part acidic foods. this is to keep a balanced pH of 7.0 but it would probably make sense for us in the beginning at least to eat as many alkaline foods as we can until we reach a normal pH level and then follow this.
at any rate...i realize you copied and pasted and that's why i was saying you have to be careful because some of those sites have errors on them. i have been doing a lot of research on this lately myself too. balancing my ph is my new approach to candida and i have stopped all supplements except for glutamine and zinc to heal my leaky gut. i decided i am doing this thing in stages.
1-heal leaky gut and alkalize body
2-clean out bowels and parasites
3-restore good bacteria to clean bowels and liver flush
4-attack any candida left with antifungals and supplements if needed
and i am going to take a few month's in each stage probably because doing it all at once is just too overwhelming to me and doesn't seem to make sense anymore. i figure i have all the time in the world right now since my social life is pretty limited. might as well just take my time and do this thing the right way.
i also just got the garden veggies this evening at wegmans grocery store tonight. i am not going to get my hopes up but i will keep you guys updated on my progress with those.
i don't seem to be having any problems finding foods to eat on the alkaline diet. i didn't feel that it limited me anymore than what the candida diet did. maybe because i don't eat any of the grains or bread or rice anyways and i haven't been for quite some time. others who are accustomed to eating those on a daily basis may have difficulties with this. i seem to be doing just fine and find that i am less and less hungry every day. before i was constantly starving. i thought the diet was very similar to the candida diet so it doesn't really seem to be much of an adjustment for me. the only thing i thought would be tough was not being able to eat very much meat on it. but i have pretty much only been eating small portions of meat with dinner and i feel great! if i eat some at lunch, then i don't eat any at dinner and just eat some steamed veggies and snack on nuts.
i am still acidic though - i checked this morning. i wonder how long it takes to return to a proper pH. i have been doing this for about a week but i imagine it could take up to a month or longer but i am going to try my best!
anyways...if you want me to email you the word doc of all the different charts i found to compare and contrast let me know! i haven't had a chance to go through them all yet and make on good chart but i did a lot of research!
