I agree. Candida sure is an elusive, inconclusive thing once we start talking about it being anywhere outside the intestines.
I had an appointment last week to draw my blood for a mineral panel (checking for copper content). I remember we had a discussion on the board a few pages back as to whether one could test the blood for candida. Some said yes, some here said no.
So I asked my holistic doctor. He said the blood test for candida is not always reliable. Maybe that is why some experts are saying that candida is killed in the blood. But that doesn't really make sense to me. You would have to have a pretty decent immune system to kill it off wherever it is. And that does not describe us.
So it may be true that in leaky gut it IS only the toxins that are affecting us. Though it seems that if the toxins are getting through the intestinal wall then why not the yeast spores themselves?
I will ask holistic MD if the spores can get through the intestinal mucosa and out the wall.
