yeast infection ... rectal itch?

Hello,
I'm wondering if a yeast infection can cause rectal itch as well as vaginal. I have had mild anal itch very occasionally in the past and it has usually cleared up on its own, but about a month ago I had a vaginal yeast infection in addition to anal itch. I treated the vaginal infection with Monistat 3 and it seemed to go away. The anal itch improved but didn't go away completely. A couple of weeks later, the vaginal yeast infection returned and the anal itch got worse, and my doctor phoned in a prescription for 150 mg of Diflucan (I was away on vacation and couldn't come in for an appointment right away.) Again the vaginal symptoms went away, and the anal itch improved but didn't go away.

From reading many sources on the web, I see that it's possible I may have a more serious candida infection. I also have had night sweats for a number of years, and have been tested by doctors for everything under the sun without them finding anything wrong with me. Also, I have a very sensitive stomach and often have gas and indigestion - often meaning almost daily. I was taking about a roll or two of Tums each week. I have a very high sensitivity to any type of mushroom, which has developed within the past couple of years - if I eat anything with mushrooms in it I can count on vomiting and feeling sick for about 24 hours. And, if I eat things like pastries and desserts, or, say, pancakes, I tend to become extremely drowsy - so much so that I fall asleep and cannot drive safely because of the drowsiness. I have seen doctors about all of these things separately but have never connected them all.

I have taken many many course of Antibiotics over the years - when I was young I took penicillin and amoxicillian very frequently for sore throats. I also had a very scary bout with an E.Coli infection when traveling abroad about 5 years ago, and for this I was treated with some very heavy duty Antibiotics . I don't know what they were. In addition, I have been taking birth control pills for about 5 years, on and off.

So, about 2 weeks ago (along with the Diflucan) I started to take a probiotic, which has greatly improved my stomach issues. I almost never have gas or stomach problems and don't have to take Tums anymore. I have tried to eliminate sugars (incl. fruits), alcohol, and caffeine from my diet and in general I feel more alert and don't get that drowsy feeling.

But, the one thing that has not improved much is this anal itch. I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor in the next week - but it's a difficult situation because I must travel 4 hours to get to a doctor covered by my insurance. Is there anything I can do in the meantime? Can I put the Monistat 7 day suppository inside there? Or would that be dangerous for some reason? I have put the external cream on the outside skin for the past few days, and all of the itching is gone from that area, but I can still feel it inside the opening.

Any advice? Is there a natural suppository I could make that would help with this?

Thanks for any help.
