Re: Worried hypochondriac..should I even be worried?
Here are the two main tests to see if you should be concerned about candida and one test that relates to other health issues.
1) What is your history of yeast infections?
2) Have you recently made extensive dietary or other changes?
3) Do you have a family history of diabetes or are you a diabetic or pre-diabetic.
Here's how those are related.
1) Almost every woman might get a yeast infection once in a great while (every 5 - 15 years). Some women NEVER get them and some women get them very often. If you're 30 years old and this is your first yeast infection then I don't think you have much to worry about. On the other hand if you get a yeast infection more than once a year then you have a problem with candida and you should look further into it. Don't forget that you initially mentioned spermicide cream which implies sex. If you have just recently started having sex after a period of abstinence, or if you had vigorous or prolonged sex then you will be more likely to develop a yeast infection. Also certain partners will be more likely to cause you to develop a yeast infection than others.
2) If you've recently started eating more sugars, or less fiber then you would be more likely to get a yeast infection. Also some other dramatic changes in diet could increase the likelihood that you will get a yeast infection.
3) Diabetics are more likely to get a yeast infection. Depending on your age, and family history of diabetes, you should probably get your blood
Sugar checked just to be on the safe side.
best of luck
