To those who read the Bible

This isn't just for you Jane, it's for ALL believers.

Have you ever noticed in verse 3 it says:
"3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day."

So there was "light" and God called the light "day," and the darkness "night" on the "first day."

Then in verse 14 it says:
"14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day."

So then God made the sun, moon and stars on "the fourth day."

First, notice what God called day in verse 3? LIGHT. And God called darkness, night. So day means light, that could be ANY number of our days, and night means darkness, which could be ANY number of our nights. So speaking the way God spoke you could say "In the day of the sun, or in the day of the candle." Which would mean in the light of the sun, or light of the candle, which could be many billions of years, or several nights of candle use. Also at the end of verse 3, 6, 11, 14, & 20 it says "first day," "second day," third day," fourth day," "fifth day." So this means first light, second light, third light, forth light, and fifth light. These are periods of light using God's definition of day. Question is how long were these periods of light? The author of Genesis says there was "evening" and "morning" before saying the first, second, and so on days, which would imply a 24 hour period. Which should we believe, the author who implies a 24 hour period, God didn't say it, or should we believe God's quote, which could be ANY number of days, and has nothing to do with time? I believe God's. And that means creation could be hundreds of millions of years for each "day," or the usual 7 days like most Christians believe. I say evolutionists have this part right, it's millions.

Second, what was the light on the first day if the sun and moon hadn't been created till the 14th verse, or fourth day?
Also in verse 14 it says "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." Now go back through that and use God's quote and substitute days for lights, and day for light, and darkness for night. Does it make since? No.

That's what I'm saying. The Bible has it mixed up with in the first 14 verses, and the author's understanding of God is the cause. I believe you have to use what is absolutly proven by science, that the world is older than 5,000 years, and use God's & Jesus' quotes, not the authors interpretations to arrive at the truth.

God created everything in the order God said, and after a period of light and darkness created the next stage of life, and so on. This is why evolutionists can't explain the sudden explosions of different life forms from each period of time, and have no missing links, because there aren't ANY. There would be MANY, MANY missing links if evolution happened like evolutionists say it did. God is behind it all.
Take Care,
Gaylen
