Question about Darwin

Since my last post was a little to "religious" for many of you, I thought I'd get back to the real world:

If Darwin knew back then what is known now -- that the millions of transitional fossils needed to prove his theory of evolution simply don't exist -- would he have even bothered going to the trouble of writing that big, fat book? I mean seriously, it seems to me that the whole theory of graduated evolution has crumbled aound his dead corpse like a house of cards. And it's not that I fault the guy -- in fact I sort of admire him for attempting to think outside the box. But as I was browsing through his big literary behemoth in the bookstore the other day, I just couldn't help but shake my head and think, "What a complete waste of time!"
