Bach remedies not homeopathic
Placebo is one of the most complicated and least understood aspects of medicine. It isn't just about what you consciously want - after all who "wants" to be ill? No one. At least not on the conscious level. Placebo works on the unconcsious level and can not be easily controlled.
As far as I understand Bach flower remedies are *not* homeopathic. At least not in the traditional sense. They are herbal - each remedy contains an actual diluted herbal extract in alcohol. The alcohol is there as a preservative. Presumably it wouldn't be needed if there was no substance.
Looking on the web I found this ingredient label:
INGREDIENTS: 5 X dilution of the combined flower of Helianthemum nummularium
HPUS, Clematis vitalba HPUS, Impatiens glandulifera HPUS, Prunus cerasifera
HPUS, Ornithogalum umbellatum HPUS.
Inactive ingredients: Alcohol
Again suggesting a non-homeopathic herbal remedy.
