Re: Twelve Step Work
Lets see if my history of Sister Ignatia is as spotty as my recollections of Rollie.
Sister Ignatia worked in the Towns Hospitable with Dr. Bob. She ran the drunk wing, or something like that. She started the tradition of giving out a token to mark ones commitment to not drinking. She also told the drunks, that if they did change their minds, and pick up that next drink, they were to bring the token back to her.
I think AA tried to have her made a saint, and at least had the drunk tank of Towns Hospitable named after her. And she was too modest to accept the honor.
Maybe I could try that returning white chips if you drink one myself. I take a meeting into a local detox every week, and I guess I have given out enough white chips in the last 6 or 7 years to pave my driveway. Maybe if they brought them back after stopping off at the liquor store, it might save me twenty or thirty bucks a year.
p.s.
Are you sure that Rollie didn't go back out and relapse in a big way? If not him, then who was it. I seem to remember someone made a mess of it early in AA history.
