I am studying a german naturopath's work he says that if you eat ANY cooked/heat treated food, you need at least 1 tsp. salt per day, more if you sweat because of physical exercise and or are in hot weather...
He speaks from experience, he was on zero processed/commercial 'food'' diet, all organic home made everything but still had many symptoms, once he added salt, he became alive again within hours.
He claims if you eat only raw foods the body will make all the sodium and chloride it needs, so no need for salt in this case. But who eats only raw foods?
