Re: Hello stuck bile duct stone and liver flush

Hi

I would wait and have the MRCP first. Bear in mind that the MRCP does not pick up many types of hepatic stones. The signs are very subtle the crystallisation of the bile shows faint echoes on ultra-sound. When I had an ultra-sound it showed these faint echoes but nothing showed up on my MRCP. Crystallisation of bile happens very quickly, on a cycle, it builds up and clears in a random way and then for an unknown reason it fails to clear and the liver clogs-up. This causes irritation to the bile duct and it is here that pain occurs as the enzyme COX-2 builds up. This pain is controlled by a COX-2 inhibitor such as celecoxib.

Its not surprising that you have a mental condition especially anxiety as it is very common for people that have digestive issues. In fact in certain parts of the world there is a specific bowel condition called Intestinal Dyskinesia which has the symptoms: stomach-ache, severe nausea, burping, heaviness in the stomach, bowel disorder, swelling of the abdomen with air or gas and nervous system disorders.
Whether the biliary problems or the bowel problems are the primary cause is an open debate but they always appear to go together.
A very good sign of a stones passing is brown (not dark yellow) urine.

ALT levels greater than 500 U/L observed most often in persons with diseases that affect primarily hepatocytes such as viral hepatitis, ischemic liver injury (shock liver) and toxin-induced liver damage. These episodes usually pass and are not caused by a chronic problem an obstruction or infection can be responsible. You can read more on this page: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3609680/

The test to check out the bowel and ilium is a Small Bowel MRI. Usually people with slow bowels affecting the ilium have a pain on the right side half way between the navel and hip bone.
Bear in mind that I am not medically qualified I am only trying to signpost.
