Itching is a sign of liver congestion, sometimes called extrahepatic bile duct obstruction. The signs include the follwing:
light-colored stools
dark urine
itching
pain, discomfort, often described as a knot on the right side of the abdomen. Often the upper right but if the condition is secondary being caused by small intentine dysfunction with ileal pooling, then the site of the pain is much lower between the navel and hip bone.
nausea and vomiting
weight loss
low level to full fever
jaundice which includes yellowing of the skin, sometimes seen first on the whites of the eyes. Also includes darker urine which is browner rather that yellow.
