Could be. I know two years ago I had a migration of worms to my head and scalp - trying to get away from meds in my GI tract and liver. Thus started the crawling, eggs every morning and knotted hair. I have taken rounds and rounds of albendazole, Ivermectin, more Prazi than any person wants to take and Triclabendazole. I have been able to identify the type I have by the size of the larvae and eggs I'm seeing. I have an etopic infection of flukes in several areas - my scalp and hair is the worst. I realized I had more than the Chinese liver fluke (identified by finding the eggs and coughing up other larvae stages). I also have the f. Hepatica too, so more larvae. Anyway, I tried combing out the tangled mess each morning, but after looking at the individual hairs I found larvae literally growing on the hairs in the tangles. So, even if I tried just combing the tangled hair - I'd still probably have like bad hairs. I found the V-comb kind of pulls them out and captures them in a disposable filter. I know I'm losing a few hairs - but it has helped the overall health of my hair to get rid of them. I have also been soaking my hair and scalp in hot water with plain vinegar and Epson salt. What a help for that crawling and to get rid of them! Then I use a nit comb and then wash it again. The problem with etopic infections seem to be that the safe level of dosage of medicine (for ones liver) is not high enough to reach certain areas like the scalp. I could list all the things I have tried topically . . . anyway, tangles or matted hairs from what I'm seeing in my microscope all involve lots of flukes with other parasites. Again, this is my experience.
