My first fast I went from low carb and my only suggestion is to definately use the lax tea the night before you begin. For me that fast definately took longer for me to clean out my bowels (gross I'm sorry). Once you get all the food out of your system you start feeling much better. Low-carb diets tend to have a lot of food that sits in your system since it requires a lot of meat and other protein.
I still avoid Sugar when I am not MCing but I don't have any trouble with the maple syrup. In fact I don't have any desire for Sugar when I stop the fast like I do if I have Red Vines or something.
