Re: 8 year follow up

I'm new to this forum and I actually kind of agree that the EC thread has been 'dead' too lmaooo.

I really feel your pain with this lip condition. Mines started at age 16 and I'm 21 now and it's literally caused me to be very insecure and self-conscious with my body image. If I don't regularly apply vaseline or exfoliate, my lips look torn apart and resembles ugly cornflakes😭😭

I remember at age 15, I would constantly bite my upper lip because I hated having big lips and maybe that caused the endless peeling, healing, and excessive dryness for me. My lips were still very smooth and soft back then so I don't understand why my lips would be resistant to recovering by now.

So far, I've been asking my PCP if she could find another specialty besides dermatology that could help with figuring out the underlying cause of the chronic dryness, cracking, and peeling of my lips. Dermatology hasn't helped me in four years and their only solution is 'vaseline'. Vaseline has caused my lios to be even more dehydtated but it controls the peeling so I'm pretty much stuck with this for now.

I know I can't offer much help right now because I'm still in the same process as you but just know that I can completely empathize and relate with you on this. Before discovering this forum, I thought I was alone in this experience but I'm not.
