based on my experience and that of others, I recommend NOT approaching a physician mentioning you believe this is a parasitic infection nor bring any photos or forum opinions etc with you. Instead, simply ask for a scraping to eliminate the "unlikely" possibility of parasites (like scabies) a much wiser approach. It may not be parasitic but if it is, IF you show concern for this, there is a tendency towards physicians dismissing your thinking or worse identifying you as delusional - an unfortunate common diagnosis supported by numerous other physicians and published research studies. Very little supporting documentation for parasitic infections in USA (interestingly there is plentiful such research supporting parasitic infections in animals by vets - since animals cannot be "delusional", no recourse but to find out the actual cause)
