Hi Valerie I just recently discovered this forum and read your post. I’m wondering if you might be able to advise me on long-term enema use. I’m a chronic pain patient and have been on some form of opioid for the last 18 years. I used to use enemas occasionally but for the last four years I’ve not been able to have a bowel movement without one. Sometimes I feel really week after my enemas and nauseous, plus I’m getting really bad hemorrhoids. Also the last several months it feels like I have diarrhea turning in my gut and the only way to get it out is with an enema. Before this was happening I felt pretty OK about doing two or three rounds of high-volume enemas once a day, but now I have to do it two and sometimes three times a day which can make me I feel sick. My question is, is it better to do the enema and remove all that stuff, or can I possibly be doing harm to my intestines and: from so much enema use. On the advice of an Auryvedic practioner I am currently using a solution of Refinec sesame oil and tryphala tea with purified water. I really would like to not be dependent on them but I’m not sure how to even go about that considering the fact that I’m still on medication. I was in a motorcycle accident and got beat up pretty bad about 20 years ago. There’s so much contradictory information on the Internet about the subject. It ranges from this is the healthiest thing you can do for yourself all the way to your doing long-term damage to your colon and intestines. I noticed in your post you mentioned that doing a professional: hydrotherapy sessions could be a way to break the enema dependency. Could you give me more information about that? I don’t know where are you and your practice are located but I would come see you if you were in my town. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. My doctors have no idea what to do with me. Every natural path I’ve seen, acupuncturist chiropractor or even gastrointestinal medical doctors have no idea what to do with my situation. It’s frustrating. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I will look forward to your reply. Have a beautiful day
