All my research for the last 30 or more years has shown me that daily enemas seemed to be an excellent way of keeping healthy. Of course eating the right foods is of paramount importance.
I will try to find Valerie’s post or maybe she could reproduce it here. Enemas go back centuries, no millenniums, long before written history. They have been used for health purposes for a long time and were considered desirable until mid last century. At that point, pills became very popular.
I was a computer programmer since 1955 until my retirement a few years ago. I have been interested in health since I was 10 or 11 years old. My main emphasis was on health foods. So little was known then but my sense told me that fat from meats seemed to be bad. So I harangued my mother is not using too fatty meats. I had her replace meats with veggies. When I was 13, my family bought the whole library of a gentleman lawyer, Mr Reed. Besides his interest in law and history of the Far East he had an extensive library on health, diet, colon cleansing and more. I spent a lot of time reading all this material, at lot of it was an “eye opener” to me.
Although my mother believed is the therapeutic value of enemas, we got them at any sign of a cold, for constipation and for stomach problems, I learnt a lot more from these books. I remember reading about Gerson’s coffee enemas, Kelloggs dissertation on his experience that showed that most health problems stemmed from overloaded, toxin filled colon. That simple enemas could often cure a lot of illnesses.
From that point on I studied different aspect of being healthy. I have tried numerous different “treatments” to enhance my health and in the last 30 or more years I have decided that diet, fasting, colon cleansing, liver flushing, kidney and bladder flushing would be part of my health regimen.

Hi 101, if you are taking large volume enemas on a regular basis you should also be taking precautions to insure that you are maintaining an adequate balance of minerals and electrolytes in your body, and beneficial bacteria in your colon.
An easy way to do this is to make sure you are not using plain water for the enemas, and replenish the helpful bacteria by eating yogurt with active cultures, acidophilous supplements, and probotics. A good vitamin-mineral supplement can maintain mineral balance, and liquids like fresh squeezed fruit and vegetable juices, along with commercial unsweetened 100% pure juice products like apple cider and Welches Concord grape juice will keep your electrolytes at healthy levels.
If you have a good health foods store in your area, they can provide advice for you, but search Curezone first - there is a wealth of information here on these topics.
Many people use enemas frequently, many more than you probably imagine, even daily for many years, and maintain excellent health and vitality into their later years.

...don't recommend using distilled water for enemas. When you do, the natural process of osmosis causes water from your colon to be drawn into your body, thus unbalancing the concentration of minerals and electrolytes in your system.
Rather I would suggest that you use a neutral (isotonic) solution for enemas consisting of one teaspoon of non-iodized Sea Salt or plain table salt for each pint of water.

Solutions used in enemas, among other categorizations, can be classified according to their ability to either draw water out of the body, be absorbed by the body, or be neutral. In that order they are known as hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic.
The small volume disposable squeeze bottle enemas are hypertonic, meaning they draw fluids out of the body into the colon in order to provide the volume of water to promote a bowel movement. These hypertonic solutions can also be very irritating to the rectum and colon, and cause considerable cramping during and for hours after use.
Plain water is hypotonic and is absorbed into the body during enemas and colonics. During a typical enema or colonic session this doesn't present problems to an individual in good health and physical condition, but retaining a water enema, especially for young children and the elderly can cause problems.
A standard saline solution (1 tsp. salt for each pint of water) is isotonic, meaning that it is neither absorbed by the body nor draws fluid out of it. A saline solution most closely matches the electrolyte balance of the fluids in our bodies. Soapsuds enemas also are generally isotonic.
So when retaining an enema, it is usually best to do so when you are using a saline solution. If you retain a plain water enema, it would be a good idea to replenish electrolytes afterwards with something like 100% pure grapefruit juice, Welches 100% pure unsweetened Concord grape juice, or Gatorade or other electrolyte fortified drink.
