Maltoxdextrin is often used commercially for products which are sold as Reduced CS. The pH is important because it does not reduce correctly without a high pH >7. The guy on that forum recommends corn syrup but that is difficult to get here, at least a pure corn syrup without additives. I have tried maltodextrin and also maltose and next time I intend to use a mix of maltose and dextrose which should give me the 50/50 mix like corn syrup.
The colour does change after it has reduced, turning from a clear to a golden/yellow colour. He does mention the colour of reduced CS and the typical particle sizes it corresponds to.
He also goes into why ionic silver is dangerous in the body, it builds up due to combining with selenium and sulphur if I remember correctly.
His CS generator obviously does make mainly ionic silver, just like all the rest, but he does highly recommend reducing it.
