I cannot give you any advice on smoking part. Book says you should not smoke during MC.
Your weight loss -
Master-Cleanse is a great jump start of a diet plan. You need to change your eating habits definitely. Vegetarian diet is not a must. What is a must is a balanced diet of good quality fresh foods. I'd suggest reading "Nourishing Traditions" which is a cook book as well. It explains how to get nutrients from food. In my case I started with
Master-Cleanse - lost about 14 lbs first, took up sports and changed my diet totally, I do not eat: skim milk, margarines, anything that says low fat. I try to get hormone free meat, organic milk, organic fruits and veggies. Use olive oil, butter instead of all the fats that were marketed healthy for years. Yes I eat more fats now, but still loose weight.
I think lack of nutrients in our diets (eating dead processed foods) is making us eat more and more, we gain weight because of all empty calories.
My story is I lost about 30 lbs in a year, and now I am at perfect weight for my height.
