Re: My first long fast...
Gargantuan1,
Yes, I am still fasting at this point. I agree that there is a huge psychological component to fasting and, by extension, to eating. This fast has further confirmed to me that, for a huge majority of people, most of our urges to eat erise out of our thinking and emotional patterns. I forgot to mention that I have a black coffee roughly every two days, most of the time it is decaf. I have read some accounts of people who began to suffer ill effects to their health before their body fat percentage reached as low as 3%. I have no desire to continue my fast until I get to that level. The Scottish man who fasted for 382 days was being given yeast as well as other supplements, which I think was a good thing. Without proper supplementation, I am sure he would have died long before that many days had passed. As long as I am still feeling well, I am open to continuing the fast, or at least until my weight drops below 200 pounds. Ultimately, I would like to reduce my weight to below 175, ideally between 165 and 170 (which was what I weighed when I finished high school). As I have been unable to be particularly active the last few years, I do not have the same amount of muscle that I had when I was a young man in my 20's or 30's, when I carried 180 to 190+
pounds very well.
Best of luck to you in whatever you decide is best for yourself...
