Re: Tacrolimus for Exfoliative Cheilitis; This Forsaken Condition Makes Life Not Good
I'm very sorry to hear that you are so unhappy and that the cheilitis deeply affects how you feel about other people. Please know that I do not mean to upset you in any way by making any suggestion, because I can see from what you wrote that you have tried everything that might work for it, including the marigold. So I hope you will not be offended, but just take it in the spirit I am writing it - that I hope you might find Something helpful among the things I mention below.
First of all I would check ALL products - including shampoo, TOOTH PASTE, mouth wash, lotions, medical products, cleaning products for Sodium Laureth Sulfate which is a common culprit in cheilitis and also check for Cocamidopropyl Betaine. Stay completely away from those.
Also - has your doctor taken swabs for a possible candida or staphylococcal infection? I knew someone who had this condition + eczema and for whom repeated courses of Doxycycline (
Antibiotic for 2 weeks) helped at the time.
Also - have you had your iron checked (I know it's more relevant for angular cheilitis, but it wouldn't hurt to check. I would recommend having a ferritin >70.
I was also wondering whether you have tried any supplements that generally might help with collagen production and skin integrity (there are no reports for exfoliative cheilitis, but it could be tried for 1-2 months in case it might help?...) - L-lysine 1-2g/d, omega-3 fish oil with high EPA - 2-3 caps/d, zinc 30-50 mg/d (but not for longer at this dose, unless you check your zinc + copper levels), copper (usual ratio is 1 copper to 5-8 zinc), vit C 500mg 2-3x d, vit A (?3000 IU/d), vit d 5000-10000IU/d (I would take vit K2 along with it) and a vit B complex.
(There is a product called Brain Synergex which I think is superb, as it combines a lot of the above, even if at lowish doses - but I have certainly seen it work for people amazingly well. You cannot get it in the shops, only through a direct order from the manufacturer, who is on one of the Channel Islands in the UK -
http://www.healthspan.co.uk - check "Brain Synergex" - it might not help with the skin, but I can almost Guarantee it will help with your mental wellbeing and really quickly - within 2-3 weeks of starting it. (BTW - I have NO affiliation with anyone selling anything.)
I have not added vit E to this list as I have no experience with it, but if you take it, I would take all 8 isoforms, not just alpha-tocopherol.
And from personal experience - but unrelated to your condition - I took 300mg of Ubiquinol from Healthy Origins daily for 1-2 months and my skin became like 5-10 years younger and soft again (but it is really expensive and I am told that Ubiquinol is too unstable in solution - it keeps being converted into Co-Enzyme Q10 - so you might as well just buy that, it would be cheaper (the equivalent would be 600mg CoE Q10 - you can't overdose on it).
I am sorry that you have encountered people who have made you feel so embittered. The bitterness and hatred are a very heavy burden to carry.
I hope your burden will get lighter one day. Please consider forgiving people for their ignorance and lack of understanding. Nobody is walking in your shoes, so nobody has any right to judge.
I wish you the very best.
A fellow human being
