It is not really important what the main reason for trying "leave it alone method" was.

I think the main facts are:

- it is tried by many
- many failed to cure EC by just leaving it alone, (all the while making no serious attempts to figure out allergies, eliminate major allergens like wheat, gluten, milk, soy, nuts, berries, eggs, shrimps, sugar, or to cure allergies or to heal the leaky gut.)

Conclusion: Those who got cured by "leave it alone method", were probably not just cured because of the "leave it alone method", but also because their allergies spontaneously got cured.

Daniel did indeed try to live more healthy and that can sometimes result in spontaneous healing of allergies.
