This is the same thing that happened to me. Except I used an Ozone generator that was incredibly powerful, labeled a "Shock Treatment" generator. Basically, there are a number of stories online from people who have provided "too much" ozone to their environment, and it contaminates it forever. The theory is it over-oxidizes the surrounding, and causes the products to further off-gas continually. I've ready stories of people losing their entire homes over over-ozonating their environment. I am one of those people. We had a mobile home with a cigarette smell from previous renters. We didn't react too poorly to the cigarette smell, but wanted it gone. We read all of the miraculous claims of ozone generators, so we bought a few. After running the generators about 30 minutes per stretch for many days and it not removing the cigarette smell, we ran it for hours. Once we did this, the house permanently emitted a *very* strong ozone smell. Even after leaving every window / door open for 62 days with box fans in windows... zero help. After turning the heat to 95 in the summer and closing every window / door, it still would never "offgass". Half a year later, the smell remained at 100% potency.

Google this phrase exactly "Ozone Generator Ozone Treatment FAQs" and click on the first link that isn't an ad... this site has lots of horror stories from ozone generators ruining people's homes / surroundings.

Wish I'd read about this before.
