Re: progesterone and thyroid

Thanks Ginagirl for this comprehensive overview of progesterone. Very interesting to hear your experience with it.

I have used progesterone on and off. But as Vulcanel points out: I want to figure out why my body is not producing enough progesterone.

I know that vitamin D is necessary for the production of progesterone.

Also, if you're low on hormones, why not take pregnenolone instead of progesterone? That way your body can produce all the hormones it needs. Can't figure this out either.

I have been thinking about this for years but haven't been able to figure out. My progesterone is always low. I'm still menstruating and have to take DIM otherwise my estrogen gets too high in relation to the progesterone. When estrogen gets dominant I get terrible menstruations with lots of pain and bleeding.

(Also, they sensitize each others receptors. So you can get low progesterone symptoms because actually your estrogen is too low. This makes it even harder to figure out what exactly is going on)
