Re: How to lose weight?
Rather than rely on gimmicky protocols to lose weight, the best (and only) way to lose weight and maintain it is to figure your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and reduce that amount by 20%. You would then re calculate your TDEE for approx every 10 lbs lost
In other words, you need to eat a calorie restricted diet made up of a proper balance of macros (protein, carbs, fats).
A good ratio is 40/30/30 making sure to try and eat low glycemic carbs, and healthy fats. This will help ensure a majority of weight lost comes from stored fat, as well as maintain optimum body composition. I'm not saying that you shouldn't jump start the new lifestyle with a sensible fast or the like, but calorie restriction is really the only way.
Google TDEE calculator and give it a try. Be honest with your activity level and you should get a pretty accurate calculation of your daily maintenance calorie level.
