Yes if you can avoid all of the halides, I think you can get by at 6mg a day of iodine. However I doubt that you are Iodine Sufficient because you have been exposed to halides for your entire lifetime.

I suggest you get the Iodine Urine Loading test for Iodine, fluoride & bromide. Then if you are deficient you should work your way up to 50mg a day to both detox and become Iodine sufficient. The body stores nearly 1 gram of iodine ( or the toxins that displace iodine).

Google "Foods Halogens," and you will be shocked at how many foods & beverages contain these toxins. I suspect they are impossible to avoid entirely. So bottom line, you need to take more iodine than the toxins coming in from food & environment. Especially important for women who need more iodine for breasts, ovaries, uterus & hormones.
