By 14 to 21 days build up should disappear and the whiteness of the lips should be replaced by pinker, normal looking lips, smooth with no splitting, shedding peeling or what ever, what I would call healed. I call this the best cure I've stumbled upon having been failed by the London skin hospital years ago when I was given hydrocortisone medication which made my lips worse, that I never went back for further treatment or saw any other docs.

My lips now are normal, no peeling no splitting, I can go about my life without having to think about them, I can eat what I like do what I like. Not having to think about them is the biggest and best part of my feeling cured.

However I am still soaking them 5/6 minutes in the morning and in the evening if that is what you mean by maintaining.

You see I recognise this ailment to be a fungal/yeast infection and I know that it may take time for the salt to kill the yeast, I don't know how long,(I've read could be 6 months?) meanwhile I am having a great time and I am so pleased that the condition of my lips is no longer a problem that there is not much difference in being healed and not being healed, in my day to day life.
This is a yeast fungus infection, and Epsom Salts and coconut oil are extremely antifungal and have done their work.

I consider myself blessed in my present condition compared to before, you may say this isn't a cure that it's just maintaining, but for me my life has changed, I am taking up swimming now something I avoided because of the white lips problems, which I no longer suffer with in water or out of it, that's what I mean about being cured, being free to live as I want.
