The best way to get off is to taper slowly. Take it in the morning when cortisol rises naturally.

Take zinc (with copper) at night before bed. Zinc naturally lowers cortisol and you want it to go down at night. Zinc is also required for the hypothalamus to make all the chemical messages it sends to the pituitary, and that all affects the adrenals.

Take b-vitamins and vitamin C for your adrenals. It is really hard to find research on the adrenals online or details of how adrenals make all of the adrenal chemical outputs. But with a lot of digging, I found that the b-vitamins and vitamin C are what you need for adrenal gland function. Take a multivitamin too. If you want to support the natural function of the adrenal glands, and let your body do what it's supposed to do, you want to take vitamins.

Take EXTRA b6. Steroids deplete this vitamin. Start with 25mg twice a day, then build up from there.

B-vitamins are best taken in small increments throughout the day instead of one large dose per day.

Make sure you get plenty of sun in the morning. The blue light hitting your eyes sends a signal for your body to make cortisol.
