Re: Cultural, historical and Linguistic contexts. :)
I'll have to investigate that organization.
Does that make the content of his article invalid?
I had to face this sort of question on Saturday, a Jehova's Witness stopped at my door.
Refused to pray with me, too.
I asked my husband, 'Aren't they believers too?'
'Yes', he replied, 'But they're following a human-made teaching and smearing the name of God in the dirt by their actions. It makes me furious.'
I do not know if any church or group has it perfectly right, Rainy.8.
All I know is that Jesus did his Father proud, and that's the best I can hope for too.
-EDIT-
Having read some of
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_International#Beliefs_and_doctrine , especially the Beliefs and Doctrine section, there are a great deal of points I disagree strongly with from that group's founder's teachings.
Sorting through what I know of Rood as well, that is not in his material either. Rood is, however, wildly fascinated by old testament patterns and how they relate to Jesus' life and actions. Fervently so, and I'm not happy with him for having named a ministry after himself.
That incites teacher-worship.
Take especially note,
Tansybelle (because you told me you were quite new to the faith)- it falls under the category of God as a jealous god- it's easy to get caught up in the passions of a teacher in christianity. When their thoughts start forming your thoughts, and their ways start forming your ways, it's time to leave for a while and sort out the sheep and goats, so to say. Jesus warned against it, the people of His day had exactly the same problem. Little kids worship their father and mother, because they want to be like them- that's why we shouldn't cling so strong to other christians, because it's Jesus who we want to pattern ourselves after.
