Re: Does anyone know what type of parasite this is?

Omgosh! It is caterpillars! We went outside to clean up after them as we do everyday and found one behind squirming around on the side of her kennel, then I looked behind it and their were several cocoons back there. It is very odd that she isn't digested them and she's def eating them whole.

My dogs have always been inside dogs until recently when we lost our house and had to move in with in laws and bc of them having whatever they have, we don't want them in the house. I know it's not good for them to be outside. We do go out there and pick up their poop daily and am just trying to be preventative.

I hung fly traps up and its eliminating the flies.

We started them and us on the albenza and ivermectin protocol a week ago. My pitbull, the one who ate the caterpillar's, has had 5 maggots come out her upper lip, after taking 1 dose. Her lip looked like it was cut open with multiple tails sticking out. I went and got tweezers and tried to pull them out but they were just too big and I didn't want to hurt her. It looks like they all have been purged out and the sore is healing up. I hope so anyways. I pray the flies haven't laid any more eggs on her. I know she got the myasis possibly from when she had the open sores and multiple rashes all over her legs and paws and being outside. I also have a chihuahua out there with her doing the same protocol and he doesn't have maggots coming out of his skin anywhere. This has just been hell! There's nothing I can do about her being outside at this point.

They are clearing up. And they seem fine. They're hair is already starting to grow back where are bold.

The very first sign of my dog having something was a year ago, it was a inflamed red cyst looking bump that she would knaw at furiously and wouldn't want anyone to touch it. I showered her in our bathtub one day with me in it barefooted and the drain had stopped up, 3 days later I had a horrible rash around my ankles and top of feet that burned and itched so bad it felt like jungle ants were biting me and trying to kill me! I went to quickcare and they gave me lamisil, half way through the meds it went away, so I gave the rest to her and it went away on her. Then my other dog got it. at the same time it went away on my legs, I started getting chronic urticaria on my neck which I and the docs thought were shingles so they treated me with valtrex and it seemed to make it disappear but it would reappear 2 weeks later, sometimes a month later and just keep repeating like that. that damn doctor kept me on valtrex for 6 months, that's when I knew something wasn't right. Shingles doesn't do that. Whatever it is, is affecting my nerves in my neck though. I do have severe neck pain, matter of fact all 3 of us do, daughter and husband.

These doctors here are looking for a live worm in our stool to confirm parasite. Ive taken my husband's and daughters stool to them with dead worms and it come back negative. so they are no help to us. We've been treating ourselves before with DE, which only kept it at bay, didn't kill them off, and I'm now reading all it does is scatter them. we stopped the DE for now while on this protocol. We are feeling reallysa sick and lethargic right now and itching like crazy! I'm assuming this is die off symptoms?

I don't know what we are dealing with, it is a guessing game. if this protocol doesn't work, we could possibly have Tapeworms or blood flukes?? Hell the doctors don't even know either. I would ask my doctor to do an elisa test but then it says you have to know what parasite to test for. it's hit or miss.
