Re: Has anyone tried an antifungul called Voriconazole?
If you read the Pub Med literature about C Glabrata, that strain has some "ingenious" methods to mediate natural killer cells. It's fascinating, although I'd rather know absolutely nothing about it.
I've got about 10 specific articles about why the current testing methodology doesn't work for Glabrata (disseminated - not biopsied from mucosal surfaces). Those led to my investigation of the entire immune response of the body and how it differs between c. Albicans and C. Glabrata.
Had to educate my infectious disease doc. Only way I could stay on Voriconazole for just a little longer and wean myself off the large doses I was taking. Had a HUGE rebound effect when cold turkeying it. I was at MIC levels for my azole resistant Glabrata WHILE keeping my liver enzymes in check. I felt much better then but didn't like losing all my hair.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND VORICONAZOLE ABOVE 400mgs/day!!! I did it. It's just maintenance, it won't fix ur Glabrata if urs is a heavy load and fully disseminated. I tried. So you don't have to.
