Re: Has anyone tried an antifungul called Voriconazole?
Yeah, I had it when it first got approved by FDA way back in 2002 or whenever, 400mg a day & was on it over a year.
Results were unimpressive. Switching from itra to vori caused no noticeable "Herx" or "dieoff reaction", and improvements to lesions were minimal (posaconazole is a bit better and less side effects)
Doctors who have used azoles extensively & other patients who have severe chronic mucosal candidiasis have agreed with me that vori is not very good at least for azole-resistant candidiasis as all the azole-resistant strains like candida glabrata are somewhat resistant to vori before you even take a single dose - vori may work better against aspergillus).
Reality is if you are resistant to fluc & itra, chances are you need either an echinocandin or an ampho B product to get some real improvement.
Bottom line is if you are short of cash, and need to pay out of pocket, my suggestion would save your money for something better.
BTW, Its generic and perhaps 50 - 75% cheaper in India if you look for it there.
