Re: Husband and Prozac
My goal is to get my husband off of heavy drugs for his health. I have no idea what long term health effects of these drugs will be, but I can only imagine. He also wants to get off of them. He's tired of not feeling highs and lows, joy and normal sorrow.
Here's the deal, as explained to me by my husband. Imagine having a really bad day. Everything is off. Almost like an out of body experience, you do not feel connected, and it feels like you are in a bubble, with everything happening on the outside, and you have no control. The feeling is helplessness.
Now take that normal bad day that everyone experiences every once in awhile, and magnify it by 10, and live every day like that. That, he says, is what it feels like to be clinically depressed.
With all due respect finallyfaith, I know you mean well, but it is not possible to have any quality of life if you feel like this all the time. I'm also worried about him going "all the way down" as we begin to lower his dosage.
He says that he will be able to self-assess, but once down, it's very hard, as you get major brain-fog.
Anyway, I truly appreciate your suggestions. I have to find a doctor who is willing to work with us. Maybe two doctors (one traditional and one alternative). Unfortunately, I have to be the impetus, because it's just too easy for him to live life like this, when there is that scenario I mentioned about, waiting for him.
Thanks to all of you.
