Re: Infections with mirena

I had my Mirena inserted in August 2015 as I had really heavy periods. I was advised that I had multiple polyps and fibroids which were removed surgically at the time that the Mirena was inserted in the operating theatre whilst I was under a general anaesthesia. Well the last 8 months have been the worst months in my life!! I was given an injection of Depot Provera during the operation and the only blessing is that I haven't had a period in 8 months. I am 43 and don't want to have children. I actually wanted a hysterectomy as I am fed up with the cramping, anaemia, tiredness and unpredictable heavy periods. I was talked out of it. Yesterday I saw my GP who examined me and said that I have a massive pelvic infection. I have seen my Gynaecologist on multiple occasions who has not examined me since she put the damn thing in me. She dismissed my complaints of unsteady blood sugar levels (I am diabetic), severe pelvic pain constantly, chills and fevers. I now have septicaemia and my GP removed the IUD yesterday only to find a gush of pus when she managed to dislodge it from my uterus. You can guess that I am furious with the ignorance and arrogance of my Gynaecologist and of the Mirena. I am not sexually active so this is the cause of my problem. I'm now booking in for the hysterectomy that should have been done last August!!
