Re: Health concerns when beginning extended water fast.
In my opinion a two week long fast is doable with light work (eg. In working wit a computer in an office) but more than two weeks is a very-very bad idea. I've made that mistake.
Currently I'm in the middle of the 4. week of my second fast with no major problems because I don't work at all, I'm relaxing or doing whatever I want at home. I think I could do even 5 weeks this way, we'll see...
Binge eating: it's a habit and habits are difficult to change. I can also get into a spiral where I consume the contents of the fridge until it's empty. :-) It takes me about two weeks to shed this habit if I fall to the trap. I've got out of this several times by simply not keeping food at home and buying only what is necessary for that day. This way I skipped my breakfast that made me even less greedy during the rest of the day and I've realised that I'm usually not even hungry in the morning. I think unconditionally eating in the morning is just a habit and mental pleasure for most people.
For me losing fat was far from being the best gift from fasting (compared to eliminating my illness) but it was still a huge boost. I remember that I had some bacon on my belly and the bottom of my back and they were bouncing while I was running. :-P I'm far from being anorexic, I love eating, but I have to say that being skinny or having a lean body is just superior both mentally and physically when it comes to athletic performance. I've tried both settings within a single month to be able to make a comparison.
