Re: Health concerns when beginning extended water fast.

Hi. I am currently on day 19 of a water fast. I read your post with interest because I also have a binge eating disorder and suffer from anxiety and depression. These were factors that led me to take the drastic step of water fasting.

I stopped all medications before my fast because I was concerned with pills on an empty stomach and because I wanted to clear my system so that I could be sure of what I was feeling without mind-numbing drugs.

(I am also morbidly obese which has caused me no end of physical and emotional stress.). =(

I am encouraged to see someone with a complicated emotional and physical history embark on this type of self-healing! My only concern is that you may find the road really rocky if you try to work AND go to school while water fasting. Your fast should be as peaceful and stress-free as possible, enabling you to give your body what it needs, like lots of rest, fresh air, and quiet. Some of the detox symptoms can be pretty gnarly and may cause you to panic if you don't have the space to work through it.

Whatever you decide, try to post daily and share your journey. You will find caring, experienced advice that is sure to help!

One day at a time.
