Terrible story, but the fact that your best friend, and mother think you're crazy because they can't smell anything, and the two doctors say the same must mean something.

At the bottom of the article there is a test that you can take that might indicate this problem is just in your mind.

Also you might contact this lady http://janethilts.com/eft-phys-problems  I haven't used her, and I have sugested her to a couple of others. Don't know if they have used her. I did so because she invites people to contact her and discuss their problems.

I would suggest this route over any kind of drugs for mental issues if indeed it is one.
