Re: Can you see any cavitation? X-ray plus 3d COne beam plus Thermography

Well,
I didn't put these on my website. But here are my CT images.

I had a hole literally large enough to put your finger inside, yet the scan really showed nothing. There is nothing on those images that a surgeon would say, yes let's open it up. I had the MRI done really as one last act of desperation. Fortunately it was free for me on the NHS. It also only really showed up with STIR. Some of the other settings they used didn't show the bone defect either. But I basically discovered by accident that STIR is very good for finding these lesions. This is not a new discovery, people have known for other bone defects STIR is very good for a long time.

This is why I am hesitant to draw any firm conclusions based on your CT images. I had a look, and there is nothing really that screams out that it is a cavitation. But CT really is just x-ray, and nothing really screams out on your x-ray either.

That said, if you can see any kind of shadow or line that would denote a border, it's likely there is a cavitation there. And your lower right wisdom tooth is definitely a candidate for that. Maybe lower left too. But it's possible you have infection at all previous extraction sites.

If I were you'd I'd get the surgeon to just open up the sites and drill into the bone. With mine I wanted to be sure the infection i had was gone. The guy opened it up, drilled about 7 small holes. Pushed down on the bone to make sure it was good. It sounds pretty grim but the surgery is fairly minor. A week and you are almost totally healed from it.

Hope this helps in some way
