Silica is a very important mineral, however DE is in the inorganic form, Low or no absorption. For minerals to pass through walls of the gut and used by the body it needs to be chelated to an organic acid. That is why you see mineral lists on good minerals that have an acid attached, calcium citrate, calcium mallate, ect. It would seem that we can absorbs some of the inorganic forms...but they still need to be attached to something to chelate them in the gut for absorption and use. The mineral (inorganic) need to be very small, colloidal forms, for chelation.
ps parasites need almost all of the same things we need. Maybe slightly different preferences.
