Re: BREAKING Root cause of adrenal fatigue discovered! Not stress or candida, it's listeria!
That is very interesting. Thanks for the link.
However, one paper from Russia on mice in 1988 doesn't prove anything to me and doesn't classify as breaking news!
I assume this has nothing to do with secondary adrenal insufficiency so could not be described as THE cause of AI/AF.
I wonder if there were repeat studies in mice or study of humans during autopsy.

The abstract includes the following:
"led...to the sharp decrease of the content of ascorbic acid [vitamin C] and to the nearly complete delipidization of the glomerular zone of the adrenal cortex..."
I wonder if Listeria's effects are indirect. It use up vitamin C that is a critical antioxidant in the adrenals. This results in vulnerability to oxidative damage to the adrenals.
Adrenals are well known to be one of the most vulnerable organs to heavy metals such as mercury.
Mercury also is known to damage lipids.
So by depleting the adrenals's vitamin C antioxidant protection, the adrenals are left vulnerable to heavy metals.
A quick search of Listeria + adrenal insufficiency turned up cases where someone with a listeria infection also had adrenal insufficiency.
